Storms
From a distance storms can be beautiful, but when we're in the midst of them they are very scary and can blind us. We wonder if we'll make it through emotionally or even with our very lives. Above those clouds the sun is still shining. That shining Light is only possible because of God. He is Light and in Him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5). He is always there no matter what happens around us or to us. As believers we are hidden in Him (Colossians 3:3), so what happens to me happens to Him. It may not feel like it but God is even in control of that storm! That is fact or Truth, whether I understand it or not. In Job 36:27 through chapter 42 Job did not (and neither can we) understand the workings of God's physical creation. How can he/we possibly understand God's mind and character (Isaiah 40:28b)? God led Job through a process of questions to the place where he would have to acknowledge God's absolute power and authority. We need to keep our eyes on what we know as the Light...Jesus Christ, even when we can't see Him.
Are there storms in your life right now? There are in so many of the people I love dearly (family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers.) Their storm becomes my storm. I can still see the light in their storm because I am seeing it from a distance. God uses me to bring the light of Himself to the middle of storms. He is in us as believers and that's how He comforts others (2 Corinthians 1:3 - 4). Listen to God...if He is telling you to do something for someone....don't question it...just DO IT!!
